A Leader To The Wallachian State
Critics claim that Vlad was merely a psychotic murderer, however, this is not the case. Given that Vlad Tepes attributes made him a leader, his constant call to order to the people of Wallachia caused citizens to be obedient and follow after him. This also aided the contribution to the building of a strong, independent Wallachian state. Though strongly feared, his people praised him for fighting back against the Ottoman Empire. The fact that Vlad Dracula stood up against the powerful nobles and assured law and order in what were lawless times; put a permanent label of savior for the Wallachian people. But most of all, he is reminisced for standing up against the Ottoman Empire at a time when other principalities around him were falling under Turkish control.
Change Was Delivered
The change Vlad the Impaler had upon the land was revolting against the Ottoman Turks. In one particular way, was during the reign of Vlad the Impaler, Romanians paid tribute to the Turks in exchange for peace. This tax included one to two hundred young people a year to serve in the mercenary corps of the Turkish army. Even Vlad Tepes father, Vlad II Dracul did this to his sons Vlad and Radu. Although, Vlad the Impaler decided to put a stop to it, saving lives of many young romanians.
