Order of The Dragon
The Order of the Dragon was founded in 1408. It was established after the military orders of the Crusades required its recruits to defend the cross and fight the enemies of Christianity, especially the Ottoman Turks. Vlad Dracul was enlisted in the battle and was granted the position of King of Wallachi; thus, Vlad Tepes was born into the group.
War between Hungary and Turkey
In 1442, Vlad II was called by the Sultan Murad II for a meeting, however it turned into a trap. "The sultan held Vlad and his brother as hostages to ensure that their father, Vlad II, behaved himself in the ongoing war between Turkey and Hungary," said Elizabeth Miller, a research historian and professor emeritus at Memorial University of Newfoundland in Canada. This led to turmoil and tension between the two countries for years to come.
